Today was the day Lanie had the lumbar puncture. We won’t know the results of it until Monday. I was hoping we’d get preliminary results, which the doctor said could happen, but we haven’t heard anything. It wasn’t as painful as the bone marrow biopsy, Lanie said. I pray she doesn’t have cancer in her spinal fluid, but we just don’t know.
Lanie was tired today from being awakened all night. She can’t sleep when nurses are coming in every hour for something — vitals, blood work, giving her meds, etc. We had such a great evening last night, I was hoping she’d have a good night’s rest. We did origami yesterday, sculpted clay, and colored. She had a great appetite and ate well. We listened to music for a few minutes. It was just a nice evening.
She’s got a friend and her sister in town, both flew in to see her. I was going to cook dinner tonight for everyone, and Nicole & Angelita were going to make these baked pears that Lanie loves, then we were going to play board games. That was all postponed for tomorrow. The doctor told Lanie she should lay flat the rest of the day.
Her headaches seem to be minimal after the puncture, but they were a 7 out of 10 for pain a couple hours before the procedure. She’s not nauseated, but she seems better today. So this was a short update, but I’ll have more, probably, Monday, as the doctors aren’t in all weekend. We’re hoping she gets some rest. I’m going to add more of a personal journal and still add more of the beginning, critical days we had with Lanie soon. Just check back.
